It's not so much the breed but the build..leggy and lean with smooth muscles.I am partial to Appys and have been in the sport since '77 and ridden only Appys and have done very well. My gelding had a lot of TB blood and was 16 h. Done a lot of 50s on him. My mare completed and won the Shore to Shore in '86 and was Reserve in '85.The Arab App cross is great for distance riding..the best of both worlds...Which is what the mare is now I'm riding.The 2 above mares are only 14.3 but they are tougher than the gelding. I'm partial to mares,tho. Let your daughter have the color but look for 'lean and leggy'. After all, the 'spots add class' ;o)
