[RC] Loss of Vet Card DQ/? NO! - Roger Rittenhouse
I do NOT believe our rules permit a pull or DQ for the loss of or
damage to a VET CARD. The information continued thereon is only for
the rider and the next vet. It is NOT an official document. At least it
is not mentioned in the rules nor in the RM points of order.. at least I cannot
find that one.
The data required by RM is very limited, as pertaining to the ride. You
need start time and finish time and the approval of the vet at the
final finish vet exam. Therefore IF the vet does NOT retain the card the
rider is completed.
I go to many rides where I get the card after the completion exam by
the vet with the word 'completed' on it.
The point to point data should be maintained by the in/out time team
and the pulse team.
A master sheet at the finish and loop end points keeps track of the
time IN, the pulse team should have a master list of pulse in time and
hold out time.
OUT timers record when you left.
NONE of data has anything to do with the completion or awarding there
of. IT is used to back up a protest about a rider who failed to time in
out etc.
Vet cards are not the final word, they can be used to compare to the
official timer data..
Time data points recorded by the management team are the final word.
As long as no vet takes my card I am going on.. unless I hand the vet
my card and pull. ALL I need is the OK at the bottom and the OUT
time.
It is common practice to give the rider a new card when it is lost or damaged.
The rider is asked to inform the vet of any issues he should be aware
of. Its called TRUST - integrity ..honest - it really does exist in
endurance.
I really never heard of a ride pulling - DQ - a rider for the loss of the
Vet Card. -- Not valid.
