Re: [RC] vet cards - Truman Prevatt
I was at a ride one time - it's been a while back so I don't remember
where it was - where this was covered at the ride meeting.
This ride did have some on trail checks. The head vet told us the card
was to be on us not with crews. They went on to say that at any point on
the trail a vet can check your horse and you need your card so they can
see how the horse has been doing up till then, if there was any notation
concerning potential problems, etc. He basically said if you don't have
the card with you, you would be DQed.
I have a nice little pouch designed to carry my card on my saddle (think
it is made by Griffin). My card stays in there at all times when not in
use.

With so many rides that loop back to a single vet area I often leave my vet
card in my truck or with my crew and pick it up at camp when I need it.
