OK, I have an apology to offer to all. I made some remarks about
dangerous trails a few days ago, specifically about the California Trail on
Tevis. Since a couple of horses fell off that trail, I assumed it
must be a dangerous trail. Today, while we were out to flag trail for
Swanton Pacific, we met Nancy Elliot, DVM riding along near her home. I
mentioned the trail to her and she told me that trail is no more dangerous than
others, but by that time, horses are tired, riders sometimes "spacey" and
accidents can be caused by fatigue and "pilot error". So I guess I
shouldn't have shot off my mouth about it. However, and mind you I've
never seen that part of the Tevis trail, I still have a suspicion that I would
be terrified to ride 15 some odd miles of trail hanging on the mountainside
several hundred feet above a river. I guess we all have our own personal
phobias.
