Emigrant Trail/Grass Valley/Nevada City
I have had a couple of e-mails regarding the riding
here in my area of Nevada City, CA. I apologize if I didn't write you back
directly.
I live about 5 miles out of Nevada City off of
North Bloomfield Road. I can ride from my property for miles and miles. As many
hours as you might want to put in in a day. If I head out one way, I am in a
lower elevation and ride on BLM property utilizing trails and gravel roads and
end up in the area of Rock Creek Road or the Yuba River Area (can ride to
Malokoff Diggins... which is a long ride... all the way to San Juan Ridge,
etc.).
When I ride in a different direction, I access
trails by gravel road (and a bit of paved road-1/2 mile at most) to trails that
lead to Madrone Springs, Highway 20, and Tahoe National Forest. I get to Highway
20 in about 45 minutes (of nice riding) and can ride the Pioneer Trail and all
the other trails that you can access from Highway 20 (including Scotts Flat
Reservoir and surrounding areas).
In Grass Valley there is Empire Mine Park. Below
Grass Valley off of Highway 20 towards Marysville is riding in the Spenceville
Reserve area. Out of Auburn, of course, is the Western States
Trail.
There are several Endurance Rides in this immediate
area: Wild West, Scotts Flat, and Camp Far West. Within a short driving distance
are rides like: American River Ride, Gold Country, Tahoe Rim, Ride & Tie
Championship & Invitational (multi-event ride in Truckee), Tevis,
and Lake Oroville Vista. In addition, the rides in the San Francisco Bay
Area are easy to get to... anywhere from 2 hours to the Wine Country ride or 4
to the SASO rides in San Jose. The rides in Nevada are about equal distance to
the Bay Area rides.
If anyone in this area would like to add to this...
please do!!
