Re: [RC] $3/mile and no food???? - Lynne Glazer
GREAT post, Karen. Between you and Terry, you said it all.
Here's something Kim Fuess wrote to me about entry & refund policies,
and I'm posting with permission:
Hi Lynne,
I don't think most endurance riders realize HOW generous most
ride refund (and entry) policies are. I sure didn't until I started
competing in dog agility. Strictly enforced entry dates that close
at least two to three weeks before the event. After the entry date
closes there are no refunds for any reasons...lameness, death in
family, bitch in season (ahh dog sports, the only venue where no one
bats an eye when someone says "bitch"). No exceptions as it is not
the trial secretary or sponsoring club who makes this cut off but the
governing agility organization. Dog competitors don't seem to mind
and look at it as a donation to the club. Too bad more endurance
riders don't feel more like this - I guess they just don't realize
the amount of work and the amount of financial risk a ride manager
takes.<<

Any voices?? I just found out that this weekend I will be paying $3 a mile to
ride and there is no food??? What are average charges per mile across the
country? I just want to know. Donna and BOB

Seriously Donna, you gotta look at what you do in an entire year.
All the rides and events you go to. Think of it as you are really
spending XX amount of dollars per mile, regardless of what the entry
fee is -- so that in the end, the difference in an entry fee being
higher or lower than what you are used to -- isn't all that
significant. Just keep riding!
