Re: [RC] Finding your saddle size - Laney Humphrey
Hi Lif,
Do a Google search on "saddle fitting." Quite a few sites turn up and some
talk about saddle size for the rider. I can tell you from personal experience,
as I'm sure a lot of us can (!), that saddles the same size can feel very
different! How about encouraging your neophyte to visit a big tack store, even
if she/he is looking for an endurance saddle, just for the experience of sitting
in lot of saddles. As an added bonus, the people who work there should be able
to help figure out the correct size. Among endurance saddles, the "western"
types ones are measured like a western saddle and the "english" ones are measured
like other english saddles.
I also always encourage everyone buying a saddle to really communicate with
the saddle maker. The maker wants the saddle to be right so the more info they
have up front and the more involved the buyer is, the happier everyone is!
Cheers, Laney
