Hmm...Can't agree with you on this, Truman. The fact that the
temperature is HIGHER on darker colors does not necessarily mean that an
given "light horse" will pulse down quicker than a given "dark horse".
In all the horses I've known over the years, I can't make ANY kind of
correlation between color and "pulse down" time. I think that's an
assumption. I have seen grey horses that take forever to come
down...and I have seen liver chestnutts that recover quickly, like Jerry
Fruth's horse Irene. If ANY horse should have a problem, it would be
Irene...especially since he is carrying a heavyweight. Sunny has FAR
    better recoveries than most greys.

Incidentally, one thing I HAVE noticed "over the years" and is true of
my two guys. Sunny, a chestnutt, has an extremely "thin" coat in the
summer and a very "thick" (think sheepdog) coat in the winter. Magic, a
grey has a relatively "dense" coat in the summer, but doesn't put on
nearly as much fur as Sunny in the winter.

Perhaps horses are able to compensate in some way for their color.
Personally, color is the LAST thing I look at in an Endurance
horse....in the overall scheme of things, I think it's irrelevant. To
the best of my knowledge, no one has done a study that proves light
colored horses recover more quickly than dark colored ones.
