Re: [RC] What constitutes a start? - Rides 2 Far

If I am told that horse #1 was BC in the 100 at Biltmore when it was a
demonstration ride for the WEC, and horse #2 was BC at a small ride held
the same weekend that no big names went to, sure, I'd judge the BC at the
big ride as more meaningful.
However, I've yet to see the ride where the BCs were earned listed in an
ad unless it was the Haggin cup or something. An ad would read: 1200
miles of competition, 90% in top 10, 5 BC's.
If a rider has 20 starts and 20 finishes, at big rides or little ones,
that's awesome...unless you find out they *really* had 25 starts. I guess
I'm just looking for roll models who won't disappoint me. I love to type
in names and look at people's records. The stats sort of tell a story
when you've been out there too and you read between the lines. You see a
person listed riding some slow 50's on a certain horse...then they get
faster...then you see the year where they "went for it" and their mileage
doubles....then they start getting a few pulls...maybe next there's their
name with a new horse, or there they are going really slow. You can just
imagine all that they went through. I guess I want to know that the
framework I'm building my story around is correct.
