Re: [RC] What constitutes a start? - Rides 2 Far

which you can brag.
Don't get me wrong, I love a relaxed attitude. I was at one ride where
the ride secretary wasn't even there at check in time and Otis Schmitt
(DVM) decided to just check them in anyway. If they already had an old
number, he just went over it again. If they requested any particular
favorite number, it was theirs. It was a hoot. I was at a ride where we
had tornadoes all night the night before and had no way to get entered
before daylight. We all pretty much just signed a sheet of paper they
were passing around before the start so they'd know who was out there.
That said...if somebody on that list had gone 2 miles and quit, I think
they'd have been listed as a pull.
A Best Condition award at a "relaxed" ride is worth just as much in the
year end Best Condition Championship as a BC at a co-sanctioned FEI, IAHA
Championship ride. The criteria to start and complete a ride should be
the same, whether the manager knows everybody's first name or not.
