[RC] gaited horses - Lysane Cree

I have just started working part-time as a trail guide for a barn that rents out horses for trail rides. The horses used are Rocky Mountain horses (can also be registered as Kentucky Mountain horses) and they are gaited...a four beat lateral gait. I have been talking to the owner about ctr & endurance and she is very interested so we may go to a ride at the end of the summer with two of her horses. It will probably be a ctr of 25 miles with not too many hills since it would both be our first ride as well as the horses' first ride. We figure after a summer of trail rides a couple of times a day 4 days a week the horses should be pretty fit.

Any one out there riding these horses in endurance? They have a reputation as being good in distance riding, and their gait makes for a smooth ride, but they are few in numbers as well, so I have never seen or heard about one doing these rides. I'd like to hear some of your experiences.
