I have a question regarding LD rides.  Is the following ethical?   Scenario:
all vet checks and vets in camp.   A Question was asked at ride meeting if
50's would be given priority over 25 in the vet line?  Answer from head vet
goes something like, only Best condition horses judging will be given
priority....rest should be no problem as all vets are in camp...implication
is that 50's will NOT be given priority to 25's in line....as there were
pleanty of vets.

later on, 25 miler going for final vet check after completion (first ride,
newbie with green horse who is antsy).  In line for vet check with one horse
in front of her.....then a whole group of 50;s come up ( not front runners,
OR end of pack, in other words, then had pleanty of time to vet through and
finish last loop).  A person who is related to ride managment steps in and
inserts all these 50;s in line ahead of about 6 people who have been waiting
to vet for completion....then ANOTHER group of 50;s ride up and THEY bump
the LD-ers; at his direction.   This goes on at least a half hour....
finishers are waiting in hot sun with impatient and tired horses.....what do
you do in a situation like this?

"Person" who gave priority to 50's claimed no knowledge that 25's were not
to be bumped, claimed ride managment told him to do this.....when all ride
managment and helpers were at original ride meeting where it was said 50's
were NOT to be given priority.....

Needless to say, newbie to sport was NOT impressed!  Got the distinct
impression that 25's were nobodies and 50's could break the rules....

Any comments?

Karen (personally, as someone who rides LD  and some 50's), I would never
think I was more special than an LD-er, when I was on a 50 and push in front
of them in line!  Their horses are as important as mine, and MAY be
stressed.....
