Re: [RC] horse uninterested on training rides - Laney Humphrey
Sheila, horses aren't stupid and they are really into not doing more than
they have to and they are also very good at hoodwinking their riders.
I speak from experience! It can get really hard to get enough training
in to keep up the conditioning level if every training ride is the same.
Did I mention that horses get bored doing the same thing over and over?
My solution is to change what I do as much as I can - arena work, trail
riding by myself, trail riding with friends. I also happen to believe
that once a horse has a good base, they don't need constant riding to keep
up the conditioning level. Horses stay "in condition" a lot longer
than people do. Above all, don't turn training into drudgery!
