Last year my one of my Icelandics got into the grain and ate 20 pounds before
I found him. Called the vet. Immediately gave 20 aspirin. Vet arrived about 2
hours later. pulse was 70. Vet gave Ace and banamine, then tubed and oiled.
(Horse belched and it smelt like beer!) Anyway he passed most of the grain
undigested...LOTS of it in piles the next day. No heat in feet...he's turned
out to be fine. My vet told me the early treatment saved him. Since he is a
"pony" (don't jump me Icey people...he "is" a pony!) He's more likely to
founder. He didn't.
