Re: [RC] caps on elyte syringe ends - Truman Prevatt
At backpacking stores, e.g. REI, you can find these tubes about the size
of a giant toothpaste tube. They are open on one end with a cap on the
other. You fill them and put the clamp device on the open end that seals
it. You just unscrew the cap, put the stuff in a syringe and have at it.
They meant for carrying stuff like peanut butter, jelly, etc. on
backpacking trips. The do a pretty good job with mixed electrolytes.
However, I just reuse Lite Now single dose syringes. They are small, the
caps are pretty secure and if you don't think so just put on some duct
tape and they last a long time.

Some riders I know use the twist caps for splicing electrical wires. You
have to determine the correct size and they are inexpensive enough to buy
them by the dozen. They determine how many syringes they will need for a
particular ride and then prefill them and secure the ends using the
electrical twist caps.
As for me, I carry a couple of empty syringes with me and when needed, fill
them from a quart size wide mouth drinking bottle which fits snugly in one
of my front water bottle holders. I premix, then blend the elytes with
pro-bi, applesauce.
