Re: [RC] [RC] anything essential missing from grass? AKA, how to deal with barn manager? - Ridecamp Guest

Ask your vet to prescribe a diet (ie: provide written recommendations for your horses diet on his/her letterhead) and give a copy to your barn manager, saying "Doctors orders". Your vet should also know about any deficiencies in the local forage. Granted he isn't growing, but my TWH lives on hay and grass 365 days a year unless it's a hard winter and he needs extra calories to keep weight on, in which case I feed beet pulp, corn oil and just enough sweet feed to make it tasty. Too much grain and he gets way too hot. I have also supplemented with Mega MAg but have not used it for the past 6 or so months and don't see an appreciable difference.
