swollen joints in foal

A friend of mine had a foal afflicted with this while strictly on mare's
milk. Her mare had raised twins in the past and apparently milked like a
Jersey cow.  They had to cut the mare's ration as I recall.  She was on
lots of clover at the time.  It's been awhile and this was just what she
told me on the phone so the accuracy may be questionable, but it's
something to consider.
