Re: Re: Warner Springs Ride
No, actually in the old days, the ride entries for the Tevis
would be sent out throughout the year and the Tevis ride management required
that entries could not be postmarked before a certain date. If they
received an entry with a postmark before the specified date, then that entry
would be thrown away. The spots were very coveted so everyone would mail
their Tevis entry on the date specified and my understanding is that the post
office would bring bags of mail in and it would fill up in a day or two and the
rest would go on a mailing list. This ride is small potatoes compared to
the Tevis.
Warner Springs is popular because of the olympic size mineral
pool, and bungalows with fireplaces, and eating the dinner at the awards banquet
on dishes on tables with tablesclothes.
The problem is that because it has gotten so popular that the
regular local riders do not realize that they need to get their entry in so
quickly that they miss the boat (and the ride). We have a lot of riders
from different states coming (Idaho, Oregon, Utah, Nevada, &
Arizona.)
Hopefully the weather will cooperate. As you may
remember, 3 years ago (during El Nino) we had a storm and the ride was cancelled
the day of the ride. Most of the riders stayed and enjoyed the resort and
many told me "it was the best ride they never did.".

Ride
That has got to be a record, for any ride
ever. (Even Tevis in the old days.)

Just to let you know, there are no more corrals available
at Warner Springs. I received 60 entries by fax the first day and have
yet to get the mail.
