Sheila,
It all depends on the horse. Is she a real stocky "bull dog" type,
or is she lanky. The lankier QH with some or a lot of Thoroughbred
bloodlines can do well in 25's and 50's. I would suggest trying a 25
CTR first because of the controlled times and therefore a better
rated speed than being out there with the endurance riders. Pick a
ride that does not have a lot of mountains and rocks. Much better to
judge how your horse will do.
