Re: quarter horse and endurance riding

A lot would depend on her body type, but if she's not too heavily muscled,
she could certainly do LD rides. She could probably do them even if she
were heavily muscled. There have been two QH that I know of who have done
quite well, even at longer distances, but at least one of them was more of a
TB type. She was the national champion one year, many years ago. My
daughter rode a QH many years ago, but he was upright and very tight, so his
limit was about 35 miles. He was very fast on a LD ride, but that 35 mile
mark was about it for him. He was so tight behind that he would kind of
crab sideways down hills. I have a 3/4 Arab mare who does the same: it may
be because she's too tightly muscled or because she may have suffered an
obscure injury to her back or somewhere in her hind end when she was young.
But back to the subject of your question, I would say that if you ride your
mare as much as you do, you could do LD rides and have a lot of fun.
