I've had both....and I prefer the trailer without the ramp. First, you
need a fairly level area to put the ramp down. If you ride in the
mountains, that's sometimes difficult.
Another concern is that in an emergency it's sometimes difficult to get
the horses off with a ramp. For example, you drop one wheel off in a
culvert and need to get the horses off to get out. Better hope you have
an escape door.
Horses learn to deal with the step down....no problem.
