RE: TENT CAMPING
The problem with a tent for the truck bed is that you cannot drive
anywhere unless you strike the tent. It is warmer sleeping on the
ground than truck bed in cold weather. You must also have a level
place to park the truck but this is true for slide-in campers.
We bought a used slide-in camper (love the heater and flush toilet)
and leave it on the truck all summer. It's great to have even for day trips. At
GMHA when camping on site is not permitted, I park in a friend's
driveway for the night.
For leaky roofs...get a gallon of waterproofing compound from
Camping World and paint it on the roof.
