I have the answer to your first question about mileage requirements.  Yes,
LD miles did count towards the 200 miles
 necessary to qualify.  In fact, a rider could complete only a single
endurance ride and as long as they finished top 5
 in their weight division, they were qualified for the NC.  However, the
motion before the BOD for this weekend would
prohibit LD miles from counting and that is a step in the right direction.
(Not far enough in my opinion, but still an improvement!)
