Hi, 
I am using an ortho flex saddle on my walking horse. It doesn't make his back 
sore. I've ridden up to 3 hrs with it. I think your problem is the way you 
condition. Once a week is not enough to do a ride. Shorter more frequent 
rides would be better for the horse in my opinion. Good Luck.
