Dear Anita,
Using a breastplate can help. Also, the new breathable neoprene
girths seem to slip less. Try an English hunt style breastplate.
Problems with rubbing can be minimized by:
1. Coat any area that might rub with vasoline, desitin or a similar
product.
2. use a fake fur girth cover.
3. Gradually increase the length of workouts when dealing with a
horse that has super sensitive skin.
4. Experiment with girths & tightness or looseness of same
5. After the horse has been tacked up, stand in front of it and
gently pick up each front leg in turn, and pull it foreward then gently
return the leg to the standing position. This move seems to get the
wrincles and folds out of the skin under the grth.
6. experiment with saddl fit & saddle pads.
Good luck.
Peggy
