Re: Portable Electric fence

Hi Lisa: I have a solar fence unit which I use for my pasture all the time,
I have a copper pipe that I have hammered into the ground with a wire
attached to the negative post that goes to the battery. The only thing that
may affect the operation of this type of unit is how much moisture is in the
ground. I would suggest setting it up and the pouring slowly a 5 gal.
bucket of water adjacent to the grounding rod, so that there is a good
ground. You can check the unit for operation by using a section of the
corral wire and grounding/touching it to the trailer, it should give out a
spark. You may wish to set the corral up prior to the ride with the fence
working, with your horse in it. Once he knows that its a electric fence, he
may not ever wish to test it especially if you horse is used to a hot wire
fence. When I have used this at rides, I mostly go thru the motions of
putting the fence up and the horse doesn't even check. during the evening
and at night is when I normally energize it. This might be there website
