inverters/generators/solar

kerry kerrydykes@yahoo.com
Fortunately those of us that live in the desert SW have a great option in
solar.

One of the trailers is set up with a 75 watt solar panel and 4 golf cart
batteries. I just returned
from a 2-week trip to Colorado where I used the television, stereo,
interior and exterior lights,
etc. and never got below a fully charged battery.

The other trailer has 3 - 75 watt solar panels, the same 4 batteries, and
a 2000 watt inverter.
We use that to power everything -- including the microwave, blender,
cooling fans and furnace blower. Using
the majority of power during the dark hours it's often at about 2/3 charge
first thing in the morning.
The good thing is the sun always rises in the morning and the units fully
charged by 10AM. The ONLY
thing it doesn't power is AC

The other beauty of it -- no noise, no filling generator fuel tanks, and
no repair expenses. The whole setup
costs less than a good quiet generator that would match the power output.
