It would appear that the East Team handily won the Pan American Team Gold.
The individual gold will go to Heather Bergantz who covered the course in the
shortest time riding Crystals Charm, the Haggin Cup winner of 2000, belonging
to Skip Lightfoot.
But now we are all going to have to live with Maryben because once again one
of her Juniors outshone the rest. Heather learned her lessons well at
Maryben's knee who taught her the fundamentals of the sport when Heather was
11 years old. Maryben's philosophy for juniors is fairly cryptic...their
first lesson usually begins "get on your horse and don't lag behind and don't
argue and don't whine." Our congratulations to Heather, but also to Maryben
whose guidance has been instrumental in the lives of so many young people.
