One more thing on Scratches (from Barb Peck)

I understand Scratches (also called rainrot, rain scald)
to be a mix of bacteria and fungus, with dominance
flucuating between the two... hense it's difficulty
to treat.
Washing with a sulphur/aspirin soap (like Fostex)
followed by Lotrimin AF powder works very well.
(AF stands for athletes foot)
Lotrimin AF is 2% miconizole, is cheap and can
be purchased in the drug or grocery stores around
here.
What's interesting, is that 2% miconizole cream doesn't
work as well as the powder.. go figure..
Some horses just seem to be more susceptible
than others.
