OF patent?

I heard (and this is only what I heard) that OF does not own the patent to
the panel system and that actually some other guy holds the patent and has
left the company. Just out of curiosity I checked the US Patent and
Trademark Office,  there is a patent #5,383,328 that is held by Ortho-flex
and lists the inventor as Len Brown filed 8/1991. It describes the flexible
panels I am pretty sure.

So the mystery continues.

i checked out Rocking R Saddlery on the web. Their saddles look very much
like the OF saddles nad the panels, from the top at least, do too.
