I'd be cautious about the stumbling being an indicator of an occult problem.
Increasingly frequent stumbling can be a sign of a lower leg or foot
problem, as the discomfort causes the horse to subtly change his gait,
resulting in a stumble. Pretty good article a few months back in Equus
about this.
Or perhaps the horse is being influenced by the weight and pressure points of
the saddle or the rider, i.e. discomfort in the shoulders?
Just a couple of thoughts
