IMHO, the problem you describe is not only with the pad, but with the
saddle. If the saddle is too low on your horse's withers, nothing is a
permanent cure but a saddle that fits. This problem will never go away,
and will increase with age as the horse's back hollows. High withers
require special attention. Good luck in solving your problem.

Subject: RC: sore high withered horse
& Ohio CTR
Hi everyone. I have a
problem. I completed my first 25 mile endurance ride
and my high withered
horse was sore. Very sore just at the withers. I have a
Boz saddle
and use the No Sweat Vent Pad which I really love. I had to have
thicker
pads put onto the saddle as I couldn't even fit a finger between his
withers and the pommel of the saddle. Now, the saddle is pinching. Does
anyone else have this problem and what kind of high wither pad should I
use
to help? I don't want something that'll be pushing me so far back
that'll he
be sore in the back. I'm looking for something that
you've actually tried
and that worked. Thank you for your responses. Deb
P.S. By the way, I'm helping to put on a competitive ride called the
Celebration here in Northeast Ohio. For more info, e-mail me and I can
mail
you or fax you a ride flyer. The ride will be held on June 30th and
July 1st.
We'll have a 55 mile elevator (30 the 1st day and 25 the next) a
separate 25
on Sun. and a 16 mile novice on Sunday.
