halters

I don't ever leave halters on horses even in a corral. Horses seem to be
born to be self destructive anyway and I see leaving halters on as asking
for trouble. Had a friend that lost a foal still on its moma. Had the
mare and foal at a horse show, won the championship, got home very late
and put the mare and foal in a large stall for the night with the halter
on the foal. The foal caught the halter on something in the stall and he
found it with a broken neck in the morning still connected to the stall by
the halter!

Then another person I know left halter on in a pasture the horse put his
foot through the halter, panicked, and managed to kill himself before
anyone noticed. Why take a chance? Not me, for surely with my luck my
horse would get caught some how.
