Re: Complete Feed Recommendations
Kathy,
Purina Complete Advantage was designed to be a complete feed with roughage.
Because Purina has a state of the art Equine research facility
Veterinarians came to Purina and asked if we could develop a Complete
Performance feed without hay and absolutely no dust for Race horses with
dust allergies and for horses with heaves. It was developed about 10 years
ago and was the first beet pulp base horse feed of it type. There are
probable hundreds of horses that are at the tracks that thrive on it as
there only source of feed. The feeding reccomendations for Complete
Advantage for a 1000# horse in heavy training is 23#, which would provide
9.2 # of beet pulp .Most horse owners never heard Complete Advantage
until a couple of years ago because Education efforts on the excellent
qualities about beet pulp (thanks Susan G) the product became more
popular, especially with endurance riders because of the palatability and
nutritional qualities. Although it was designed to be fed as a complete feed
it also works excellent as a supplement at 4 to 6 # a day to provide, Beet
pulp, fats,
vitamins an minerals. An easy way to make it more complete as a supplement
is to add 1 # of Purina Athlete a day to provide more fat, Vitamins and
Minerals.
Hope this helps,
Amber
