H&M does not affect horses but the problem is that it (H&M) is easily
carried and any contact with "farm" animals, areas or the like is suspicious
when it comes to control. Just the fact of animals being transported from
Europe (let alone the persons themselves) lends the possibility of the
reinfection of livestock in the US. We have been H&M free for a number of
decades now and I believe that all of us would like to see the continuance
of that fact.

While foot & mouth disease is terrible, to my understanding it does NOT
affect equines, only cloven hoof animals (pigs, goats, sheep, cattle, etc).
Other than the awful effects it has economically on affected countries, how
would it be a problem for endurance riders??  Can it be brought into the
U.S. by horses & people?
