Re: RC: re: kicking -passing incorrectly
I didn't want to get in on this discussion, because I know I'm going to get
blasted. But doesn't courtesy fit in here anywhere. I will say right away
that I have a kicker who always wears a red ribbon, and what will set her
off I never know. But I do know one thing, only a gelding/stallion will set
off the "I want to kill you response". She always gives a warning,
sometimes when the other horse is a football field away. I am less
concerned with someone galloping by me than I am having someone gallop by me
with no warning. I put a very large red ribbon on my mare, that can be seen
far away. What happened to yelling as you approach "passing on the
left/right", so that I can get out of the way. I know what my horse is
capable of, just give me a little warning so I can get her out of the way.
And yes, I have worked on getting her to stop kicking. She doesn't back 100
yards now to get at someone she wants to kick, now she'll just pin her ears
and with a crop on the rump, I (usually) don't get a kick.
