RE: lowering temps under saddles/saddleblankets
I have a farrier friend who has started selling
"Ulti-Pads", which he said he's ridden in as an
under pad for about a year. (I've also seen afew
endurance-rider endorsements). It'a tangle mass
of what looks like angel hair spaghetti (it's PVC
material) 3/8 thick, 29 X 29 (and also comes english
cut).
It's supposed to increase air flow between the regular
pad and the horse's back.
Maybe someone on RC has already tried the Ulti-Pad
on 25 miles or longer, and can comment??
Barb
Hi Barb,
I ordered both styles and first used the English on my
friend's horse, with her permission. (I have ridden this horse for
her in the past.) After our 20 mile ride his back was *very* sore.
I foolishly tried the western style pad on my mare on a short ride
and, yes, her back was sore after the ride, also.
The pads came with a 30 day trial period, so I was able to return both with
no problem. Just didn't work for these two horses (my friend's horse
is a 15.2 appy, and I have a 14.2 arab).
Judy...always searching for the perfect pad ...&
Hilary....I keep telling her I like sheepskin & felt...even in the
heat.
