Denise: Get to Texas as soon as you can before it gets really hot and
humid. If your horse comes with you, body clip him if he's wooly (after
you get here), and keep free choice salt and minerals with plenty of
water at hand.
However, you will be working for a very knowledgeable endurance rider,
and she will definitely have good advice for acclimating your horse. By
and large, most horses manage just fine.
As for riding, during the hot summers, we ride early in the morning or
early evening, say after 6:00 p.m. or at night during the full moons.
