Diarrhea
Oh good, I can come out of the poop-watcher closet now: I admit that I am
able to ID the normal poop of every horse on our place. There are only 7
horses/ponies but some folks think my 'ability' is odd. My observation has
been that anxiety and dehydration may cause non-chronic diarrhea, and I
suspect that digestive challenges may contribute; I'd like to hear about
other causes. My old mare doesn't chew well - if she gets hay that is too
coarse she will have a bout of doooo. Extruded feed and fine grass hay
works best for her. My filly gets pretty excited in a ride camp - though
she may pass a soft batch she is never squirty. She eats anything that
can't outrun her and will drink a bucket dry just to check the bottom
("isn't there more food?"). Looking forward to hearing from others.
I think we're normal, Maggie :-)

... periods of absolutely normal, beautiful, well hydrated poopies...
Perhaps I should keep a poopy diary and see if I can pinpoint the whys and
wherefores? This sounds silly but I swear I am being serious!!
