Howard, dearest, there's a helluva lot more to the FEI than just endurance. 
They've been around for quite awhile, and oversee international competition 
in 2 day eventing, showjumping, and dressage, as well as driving competition.

Whether the interface between US endurance riders and the FEI is sticky or 
not, the organization as a whole does a pretty good job. Given that. I'd 
wonder if maybe some of the problem might not be originating here.
