Decked the horse falalalala outcome(long)
I woke up around 9am on Saturday Dec 9th to get my Ansata prepared for the
Parade. The unicorn horn was a no go along with my sidesaddle and sidesaddle
suit. So I had to make alternatives and I had nice black jeans and my nice
red shortsleeved sweater with a black longsleeved sweater over the top.
Packed my clothes into the truck and proceeded to fetch my horse out of the
pasture. The day before I has washed her mane and braided it up. It was
still clean *thud*. Now to turn her orange tail white. So into the house I
go for my cleaners that I use. bleach and Dawn dish detergent with warm
water. grabbed my flower watering can and filled that too along with another
two gallon container. proceeded into scrubbing the tail. WAS IT WHITE!!! I
glopped on tons of conditioner and proceeded braiding the tail up so if she
let loose then she wouldn't saturate the tail. (been in the showring too
many times to know the tricks of the trade.)grabbed my sprayer and added
water to it. But Ansata being the lady she it not only pooped in the trailer
she spread her legs.. I would have given her a hugg if she only would have
wiped front to back. She came off clean as she entered and get this...You
are not going to believe it. She a Full Blooded arab at this ......Acted
very nice. Came off the trailer and didn't even proceed to act foolish as if
she was completely removed from her element!! She just wanted to munch on
the grass!!! Then we removed her parade buddy Little man who instantly fell
in love with Ansata. He acted as if he hadn't been anywhere in his whole
life. Inside clomped out two of the most beautiful belgium mares you have
ever seen. They also proceeded to make anouncement of their prescence.
Ansata continued to just absorb the sights and eat grass. I began to groom
her out and saddle her in my Husbands black cordura saddle and add ribbons
to her. Needless to say we were turned out quite beautifully but not the
Unicorn I had envisioned. To make a long story short. Many people looked as
if they had just pulled the horses out of the pasture thrown a saddle on and
threw them into the trailer. I saw one poor horse litterally pulled out of
the trailer by two men holding ropes. Another Man seriously put his own
daughter in danger by allowing his horse to walk on sealed pavement. The
horse went to his knees several times and he would not let his daughter off.
I was able to have someone hold my horse while I ran to her aide. By the
time I got to her she had fallen from her fathers grasp and was up and
trying to run back to him. I grabbed her and another gentleman assisted the
guy. It was very scary, but all ended well. We quickly got off the sealed
pavement. Another group of Spotted Saddle horses and their riders were
beautifully turned out with Gold Lamme' saddle blankets and banners that
read different holiday messages. I watched Bill (the nice gentleman who gave
me and Ansata a hitch) and his son John hook up the belgiums. I was green
with envy to learn to drive them. I have lessons coming to me this spring. I
have to give Bill a raise tho. Part of the deal! They hadn't been hooked up
in several months except on the farm nor had they been away from their
babies! But they behaved very well! I was astride Ansata ready if I was
needed to help out. John and Littleman was always beside us. Littleman just
adored her if we went somewhere we were followed by Littleman and John. Poor
John didn't have much of a say so in the fact where Littleman went. Ansata
did her little show canter for everyone, almost floating.
I made a few horse friends out there many people didn't speak to me I think
it was because of the Arabian thing. I had two people speak, two women
infact to say how pretty my Arabian. One nice lady said she had to do a
double take to make sure someone didn't steal her own horse. She loved
Ansata and complimented how she looked like her own Miss Tinina. Another
young lady complimented on Ansata and we talked throughout the ride back
about endurance riding. I unfortunately didn't catch her name, but a very
good rider her gelding was acting up the whole time and she was still gentle
on his mouth.
Now the funny part. During the hold period we had to wait as we lined up.
along comes this cart with two really nice Chestnuts. and the cart was
decked for Christmas. including two llamas tied behind with packs and
presents in the packs. All of a sudden as they pass horses you begin to hear
the horses blowing and snorting and ears pricked forward and eyes all white.
As the Llamas passed the same expression was in thier terror filled eyes
"WHAT THE HELL HAPPENED TO THOSE HORSES?" or "MONSTERS RUN EVERYBODY RUN!"
you had never seen horses clear the way so fast in all your life as they
proceeded to take their spot in line, Which was directly infront of me,
Ansata, John and Littleman. Ansata was accepting and I think Littleman was
making faces or idle threats because the llamas kept thier eye on Littleman,
periodically looking at him. I think one of them gave him the toe!
We had some racecars clear out several horses and Ansata just looked at them
like a cow chewing her cud. Oh and a balloon popped and she kind of
sidestepped to see it.
Ansata acted like a peach through out the entire parade and in true
endurance fashion was ready to parade again! I gave her some additional
tizwiz and alfalfa meal for her wonderful behavior. I think it was
boogerfest 2000 for her, with no band to crank up before her like in
boogerfest 1999! you know the off key highschool band. picks to come
eventually.. I hope...if i can figure it out.
Carla (reporting live at the Lewisburg Christmas Parade 2000!)
Ansata (and we arabians are flighty.....bah!!!)
Haley (so tell me more about these mutant horses??)
Rob (back to earth Carla)
PS you have never had a party until you have loaded a couple of tons of
horse with both of them bellering at each other. I had the shear pleasure of
attempting this..it aint no cakewalk either. I asked one of them to back off
and it sure did taking Carla with her! I think I have part of my hearing
back!
