white hairs

I have a mare who has some white hairs coming in on her
back and I am very concerned with the fit of my saddle.  The
confusing part for me is that this mare never shows any 
signs of a sore back, either after a training ride or a race.  
This year we raced LD and am looking to step up to a 50
sometime next year.  Why doesn't she show any soreness
on her back?  (She won BC multiple times and never was
soreness on her back noted)  I currently ride with a Crosby
softride but I am now thinking about the Synergist.
