In fact, I've never sent any horse back to the auction, althought I've saved many from it. I have a good eye for a nice horse and if I'm wrong, oh well, I eat it. Apparently you've never seen what happens to the horses that go thru the ring and the auctineer doesnt't yell"Test 'em!!" That means they're dogfood, unless the meat buyer also has a riding horse outlet.

Let's all keep this in mind: In general, as you get more Easterly, stock
auctions are more for the slaughter buyers. As you travel Westward,
auctions are more accepted (and utilized) as an honorable livestock
exchange market. This may account for some of the divided opinions on
this matter, although it is sort of irrelevant to the discussion at
hand. The original poster was pretty clear about why the horse was
going back to auction ...
