Kristi,

You get what you pay for.  I think that Equi-bette
makes cheap to moderate quality equipment made for the
casual rider.  In my opinion, it will not hold up to
endurance & the quality of workmanship just isn't
there.

Go with brands like Stubben, Corbette, etc.  If you
can reach someone who actually knows something at the
catalog or shop, ask which leathers are cut on the
cross or diagonal of the hide.

Cheap leathers are cut along the length of the hide
since they can get more cuts that way on the hide. 
Unfortunately, the hide stretches more in that
direction.  Leathers cut on the cross or on the
diagonal use up the hide faster, but they don't
stretch as much.  They are also much more expensive
but usually worth every penny.

Another option is to consider biothane leathers which
don't stretch.  I've found that biothane seems to cut
into my legs more, though.
