Re: RC: Q for Beet Pulp Users (a bit long)
Hi Karen,
I'd just put it down to our horses' ability to make fools out of
us. I just got back from the Grand Canyon XP ride. I took a horse that
is not a good eater. He has always loved oat hay and ignored alfalfa.
At home he was eating Purina Complete Advantage mixed with Strategy.
Also at home he liked dry but not wet beet pulp. (I didn't even bring
any beet pul to the ride because I wasn't going to feed it dry and I
knew he wouldn't eat it wet.) At the ride, he scarfed down the tiny bit
of alfalfa hay I brought and picked at the oat hay. At one lunch stop
his "lunch" consisted of 6 carrots - he completely refused his usual
Complete Advantage/Strategy mix. He finished strong and overnight would
eat quite a bit (for him). Thanks to Barney's scale I could determine
that he did not loose weight during the ride so I guess he was doing
what he body wanted even if it frustrated the heck out worried me who
wanted him to eat like a pig, not a sparrow!
Cheers, Laney
