Well, not to an endurance horse, but a pleasure trail horse, and the surgery went well and was not terribly expensive, about $800 and this was at the closest race horse trauma center, a pretty high speed place. Recovery was a little rocky, but mostly because of the mare's personality, she was not a good patient. But ~ she was absolutely 100 percent sound after recovery and a slow return to work, and she was in moderate but consistent work. So I would say based on my one horse experience that the future is good for yours ~ and my horse's fracture was a good one, the result of a kick and the splint bone was in many pieces, some protruding through the skin. The cannon bone was bruised, but not fractured, luckily for her (and me!) Good luck~ Nancy Wombacher wambo@fast.net ----- Original Message ----- From: "Susan Brehm" <rockingb@worldnet.att.net> To: <RideCamp@endurance.net> Sent: Thursday, October 19, 2000 11:37 PM Subject: RC: fractured splint > I found out yesterday that my horse has a fractured splint bone and she's > scheduled for surgery Nov 1.
