Re: RE: stall door latches

I have some latches that are pretty darned snazzy and have the advantage of
one hand operation. Simple and cheap.....
The part that attaches to the post is simply a small steel "hoop" or ring. I
recently installed (and prefer) a screw in bolt with a round "eye" about one
inch in diameter. The part which attaches to the door is merely a slender
"hook" attached to a short length of chain and hangs until needed. When you
wish to lock the door, drop the "hook into the hoop. The hook has a small
movable ring which unless pushed out of the way with your finger, prevents
the hook from being lifted from the hoop. Very simple, effective and
inexpensive. I purchased these from my Grange Co-op and have seen them at
other ranch supply stores.
