RE: stall door latches
We built our barn last winter and I asked ridecamp members for suggestions
for the very same thing. I believe it was Diane Nelson (?) who suggested the
sliding bolt latches made by National Hardware. They have a heavy duty latch
that incorporates a stong spring which pulls the bolt back out of the way
when the latch is opened and released. The bolt retracts back out of the way
of passing horse flesh. We found the latches at a large Farmers Co-op and
since then I have bought a lot of hardware made by National Hardware. They
have make all kinds of heavy duty, functional hardware for farm and home
use. Truly excellent products. You may find that your local feed stores and
hardware stores stock some of their products. The shelves are typically
stocked by a sales rep that makes regular rounds so if they don't have this
particular model of latch you could ask them to request it from their rep.
Anyway, I like their products, made in America too!

Subject: RC: stall door latches
We are just getting ready to replace the sliding doors on our stalls and I
am looking for a Safe functional latch.
Any ideas out there?
We are using the sliding bolt type now, but after a bad injury on the little
hook end that sticks out, i am really hoping to find something better.
Thanks,
Vicki
