Below are the results for wither height for the colts (females were just a
tad different, but not enough to really notice):
Age in months/percent mature height:
birth/61.3%
6/84.05%
12/90.78%
24/96.30%
36/98.12%
48/99.35%
60/100.0% >>
Interesting information, Susan. Our own experience with several horses we
have bought/raised has shown us that the geldings seem to reach mature height
at about 7 years. I think mares may reach full height earlier, but have not
had as many of those as geldings, and I wasn't paying as much attention to
them as far as height. Our first experience with observations on growth was
with a 3 year old TB-type QH we bought ages ago. He grew until he was 7. I
have a 6 1/2 year old Arab we have raised, and he has grown quite a bit in
the last year. I thought he was going to be a nice 14.3+, but at the moment
he is 15.1 1/4 (and built like a Sherman Tank!!) I would also guess that
growth could vary not only with breeds, but with bloodlines within breeds.
