Re: fell off-me too

Rene,
You're pretty darned smart for one so young. I like you more each time you
post. And I am happy that you are OK and just had a roll in th surf. Must
have been cold. If it makes you feel any better, I, too had a fall the other
day. First one in a very very long time. But I am an expert at it. When I
first started riding some six years ago...make that seven....I fell off with
regularity. And I know that my helmet saved my head more than a few times.
The other day, I was riding back to the trailer after a beautiful 12 mile
mountain ride and my four year old was cantering as smooth as you please
when all of a sudden, a big pile of broken concrete from dismantled bridges
a couple of years ago jumped right out at Kit and she had no other choice
but to STOP in mid stride. This horse does not spook per se but she sure can
put on the breaks. Well, I partially stopped with her but ended up hanging
onto her neck and the reins and rather than pull her teeth out with the bit,
I opted to slide onto the ground. She just looked at me with the expression
"well, dummy, what are you doing there? Get your but up and lets get on with
it". My two year old who was tagging along thought the pile of concrete was
veerry in-ter-resting and
gave it a good sniff and pawing before declaring to Kit that it really was
OK. Yeah, helmets are a pretty darned good idea.
